Rising Above The Pain

This will be quite a departure from the normal content of this blog (well, as normal as you can call it given the relatively short time of its existence), but I need to congratulate Apple Cider for her post from a few days ago, and for her follow-up here.  It takes real strength of character (not the in-game ones, mind you) to be able to speak openly about such things.  She's put up with a lot of crap from a lot of people, and writing these entries is about the bravest thing she could have done.

So many people out there who suffer from this kind of victimization and treatment by others so often wish to keep their heads down and wish none of it had ever happened.
Apple Cider chose, instead, to take a stand and say "This is what happened, it happens to others, and if it's happening to you, here's how to fight back!"  I applaud such actions with more enthusiasm than mere words can express.
Apple Cider Mage, if you're reading this, just know that I admire what you've done, and I hope you never stop.  Keep your head up.

Folks, bullying and harassment are very real problems in the world.  And the anonymity of the internet has only served to exacerbate the problem, as John Gabriel's famous theory has described.
If you see someone being bullied or harassed, whether IRL or in a video game, step in and say something.  Don't be content to just hope it all blows over.  Stand up.  Be a decent human.  As has been said many times by many people (mainly because I'm too tired and/or lazy to search for the original quote), "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing."
If you are the victim of bullying or harassment, don't take it.  Don't allow anyone to make you feel worse than you want to feel.  Nobody has that right. Nobody.
